Digital archiving, curation, and memory work for the African diaspora.

Through moments of joy, triumph, love, and resilience, we celebrate the beauty and complexity of what it means to be Black.

Founded by Jiya Pinder, We The Diaspora emerged after the racial justice reckoning of 2020. Jiya sought to channel collective pain and grief into a transformative platform that highlights the vibrant connections and shared heritage across the diaspora. With a background in digital marketing and storytelling, Jiya holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Communications from Northeastern University and a Master’s degree in Integrated Marketing and Communications from Georgetown University.

Jiya's extensive experience includes crafting innovative social media strategies for prominent organizations like Nike, Black Futures Lab, Color Of Change, and AFROPUNK. As the founder of Creative Aura Consulting, she has helped mission-driven organizations like Wiley University and The Rights and Resources Initiative achieve their goals through inclusive, data-driven digital storytelling. Her vision for We The Diaspora is to create a lasting archive that uplifts the beauty and interconnectedness of the African diaspora while preserving its stories for generations to come.
